Pattern Ideas for Pascuali's Pinta

If you follow us on social media or subscribe to our weekly newsletter, you may have noticed some of my pattern compilations. I love digging through Ravelry to find patterns I think will shine with the yarns we carry—and then doing the yarn math so you don’t have to!

Today, I’m bringing all of my suggestions together for Pascuali’s Pinta yarn.

Before we dive in, I want to share a bit about my thought process, because it shapes what ends up on these lists:

  • I tend to feature a lot of garment patterns, because that’s what I love to knit. And ideally, every garment pattern I feature is size inclusive—meaning the finished measurements go up to at least 60 inches at the chest. This is something I’ve become more intentional about since I’ve owned a yarn shop. I’ve heard the same sentiment again and again: that non–size-inclusive designers aren’t meeting the needs of the people who want to knit and, therefore, are not good designers. I agree.
  • I also try to make sure every compilation includes a mix of designers, including queer designers and Canadian designers.
  • And finally, I try not to include designers whose values don’t align with mine and with our shop. Designers who hold hateful or transphobic views won’t be featured. I’ll be honest: I don’t know everything about every designer I highlight, and I know I can make mistakes. If you ever see a designer included who you believe holds harmful or hateful values that I’m not aware of, please speak up—consider it a chance for me (and all of us) to learn.

Now, let’s get into Pinta.

Pinta is one of my favourite yarns in the shop -- though, I am a bit biased and love all the yarns in the shop!

Pascuali’s Pinta is a fingering-weight yarn made from 60% extrafine merino, 20% mulberry silk, and 20% ramie, creating a really lovely balance of softness and comfort with a subtle, refined sheen—and the kind of strength you want when you’re knitting something you’ll actually wear (and keep wearing).

While Pinta was originally conceived as a sock yarn, it doesn’t stop there. That merino-silk-ramie blend gives it the durability and structure to work beautifully for garments and accessories that need both drape and long-lasting wear.

And the best part? Pinta is designed with sustainability in mind—supporting a more natural, lower-waste way to knit, including the idea that it won’t need frequent washing thanks to its natural properties.

Pinta is perfect for socks (obviously!), lightweight sweaters & shawls, spring tops, and babywear.

Final Thoughts

Pinta is one of those yarns that makes the whole process feel special — from winding the skein to casting off the last stitch. Whether you're drawn to the silk sheen, the sustainability aspect, or just the fact that it knits up beautifully into almost anything, there's a lot to love here.

I hope this list gives you a starting point (or a very long queue addition). As always, if you have questions about meterage, colourways, or whether Pinta is right for your project, we're happy to help — in store or online.

Happy knitting! 🧶

–Meg, Owner of Stitch & Knit Dartmouth
