WELCOME TO

STITCH & KNIT DARTMOUTH

Meet the owner: Meg

Meet Meg, the heart and soul behind our local yarn and fabric store! Since moving to the vibrant downtown Dartmouth community in 2021, Meg has been passionate about fostering creativity and connection through crafting. With a lifelong love for knitting and sewing, Meg brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the shop.

Upon relocating to Nova Scotia to pursue a Master of Arts in Arts Education at NSCAD, Meg dedicated their thesis research to exploring the concept of slow craft and the importance of mindful making as a counter to fast-paced consumerism and its environmental impact. Prior to running the store, Meg has actively contributed to the community by working and volunteering with organizations like Halifax Pride and the IWK. With a commitment to sustainability and creativity, Meg is excited to share their passion for crafting with you!

FAQs

Our Products & Servies

Do you sell sewing machines?

No, we do not carry any sewing machines for sale. However, you can come into the shop and rent a machine by the hour.

Can I buy less than a metre of fabric?

When you purchase fabric through our website, it can be in fat quarters or half-metre increments.

However, there are no such restrictions for fabric purchased in-store!

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes! We only sell gift cards online at the moment.

Are your colours accurate in each photo?

We strive to ensure that every photo accurately represents the actual product. However, please note that device resolution settings can vary, causing colours to appear differently from one screen to another. Additionally, with our yarns, dye lots may vary between skeins, and we cannot guarantee that the current stock's dye lot will perfectly match the original photo.

Do you offer winding?

We do! Let us know in the shop if you'd like your skeins wound into a cake!

Our Location

Is your store accessible?

Unfortunately, we have three steps leading up to the front door of our shop, which makes it inaccessible for wheelchair. However, we do have a washroom that is spacious enough to accommodate some mobility aids, such as crutches and walkers.

Do you have parking?

We do not have any designated parking. There is lots of street parking in Downtown Dartmouth, including some right outside the shop!

Classes & Cancellation

I signed up for a class, and now can't attend. What do I do?

We understand that life can get hectic and plans can change unexpectedly! That's why our class cancellation policy requires any cancellations or changes to your registration to be made at least 72 hours before the class start date for a store credit. If you cancel less than 72 hours prior or do not attend, you will forfeit your class fee.

We kindly ask for 72 hours' notice for any adjustments to help ensure our teachers are compensated for their time and to give waitlisted students the opportunity to join a full class.

I signed up for a sewing or quilting class. Do I need to bring my own machine?

No, you don't! We have four Brother sewing machines for folks to use either in our classes or through our machine rental program.

You are welcome to bring you own machine if you'd like. We just ask that you let us know in advance.

What is your class cancellation policy?

If a class has low enrollment, we may need to cancel it. Participants will be notified at least 72 hours before the class starts and will receive a full refund.

Please note that fabric sold by the meter is non-returnable and non-refundable. Currently, we do not accept returns for products bought online and shipped. Thank you for your understanding!
