At Stitch & Knit, we believe in making crafting fun and accessible! That’s why we offer a free craft library, pay-what-you-can sewing machine rentals, and regular craft circles. We’re all about building a friendly, inclusive community where everyone can connect and share their passion for crafting. Come join us and let your creativity shine!
NEW: MICRO SKILLS
45–60 minutes. One skill. Hands on from start to finish.
Micro Skill Sessions are focused, practical workshops covering one specific technique across knitting, crochet, quilting, hand sewing, embroidery, and other crafts. Each class includes a short demo, guided practice, and plenty of time for questions — so you actually leave knowing how to do the thing.
Bring your own project or practice materials. Sessions run once a week in our community workshop space (either Wednesday evenings or Friday lunchtime), with a pay-what-you-can format so that learning is accessible to everyone.
No registration required—just show up!

Every Sunday from 10AM-noon, we gather to share our love for knitting in a welcoming atmosphere.
Bring your current project, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and connect with fellow knitting enthusiasts. It's the perfect opportunity to swap tips, share stories, and inspire each other as we create beautiful pieces together.

A free craft library is a community resource designed to promote creativity and accessibility to crafting materials! Pop by the shop and take a look through the drawers!
If you have any extra craft materials, we accept donations of yarn, fabric, notions, tools, and more (in good condition).
RED SCARF CAMPAIGN
What is the Red Scarf Campaign? Every December 1st, on World AIDS Day, Heal NS lines the fences around the Public Gardens with bright red scarves handmade and donated by locals. Each one stands for hope, remembrance, and solidarity with Nova Scotians living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Every scarf carries a small tag with HIV/AIDS information, and anyone who needs a scarf is welcome to take one. Any scarves left at the end of the day go to local shelters.
Why red? The red scarf echoes the HIV/AIDS awareness ribbon, a symbol of compassion and the fight against stigma. When you knit, donate, or wear one, you join a global movement of care and awareness.
How Stitch & Knit is helping We've made scarf kits! Pop by the shop to grab yours (yarn included, pattern optional). Bring your finished scarf back by November 22nd and we'll give you a $10 gift card, then make sure your scarf gets to HEAL NS for their December 1st display.
Introducing Meg’s Office Hours. Stuck on a knitting project? Bring your WIP and spend 15 minutes with Meg, our shop owner and craft instructor. She can help you troubleshoot mistakes, make sense of a pattern, refresh a technique, work through yarn math, or figure out your next step.
You’re also welcome to book a session for a little encouragement as you try something new. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced knitter, Meg is here to help you build confidence, solve problems, and enjoy the process. Bring your project and pattern, if applicable, along with any questions you have.
Sessions are appointment-based and available Wednesdays, Fridays, and select Saturday mornings.
Pay what you can: We want everyone to be able to get help, learn something new, and feel more confident with their knitting—regardless of budget. We also recognize that Meg’s time, experience, and knowledge are valuable. Please contribute whatever feels comfortable and manageable for you. Every contribution is appreciated and helps us keep offering these sessions. No one will be turned away because of cost.
