Soft, durable, and subtly lustrous, Manos del Uruguay's Bambok is the natural sock yarn that blends both luxury and performance. Bambok combines superwash merino's signature softness and resilient bounce with bamboo's strength, breathability, and natural antimicrobial properties — a combination that makes socks feel indulgent while standing up to regular wear.

Plus, its smooth, high‑twist construction beautifully enhances stitch definition, while the bamboo's sheen and drape make it equally perfect for lightweight garments, shawls, and accessories.

Each skein is hand‑dyed in small batches by Manos del Uruguay's cooperatives, resulting in vibrant colourways that make every project truly one‑of‑a‑kind.

Perfect projects: Socks (obviously!), lightweight garments, shawls, and scarves

About the Brand

Manos del Uruguay began in 1968 with a simple question: how to improve the quality of life for rural women in Uruguay. The answer was handcrafts—skills passed down through generations—and the abundant local raw material: wool. Founded to create meaningful work, Manos del Uruguay offers rural women not only income but opportunities for personal development and independence, allowing them to preserve traditions while staying close to their families and communities.

Manos del Uruguay is a nonprofit organization with a clear social mission. They are organized into 12 cooperatives—each a workshop based in a small village in Uruguay’s countryside. The artisans are the owners, and profits are either shared among the cooperatives or reinvested in the organization. Strong ties to their local communities are central: creating positive social and family impact is a core priority.
