Join local artist Kelly Bee (@inclusivestorytime) for an exciting low-sew, absolute beginners fabric protest banner workshop! This engaging workshop is perfect for anyone looking to express their creativity and make a statement through craft.
In this workshop, you'll create a banner using one of the custom templates designed by Kelly, allowing you to choose a short phrase that resonates with you. You'll learn to construct banners that can be easily hung on a wall or attached to a handle for carrying at protests.
What to Expect:
- Appliqué Techniques: Kelly will guide you through simple appliqué methods and basic straight sewing to help you to create something meaningful that sparks conversation, whether at home or at a rally.
- Community Engagement: This is an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow creatives and share ideas on visual protest and expression.
- Versatile Projects: You’ll leave not just with one banner, but with skills you can use to create new banners of all sizes. Plus, you can transform your finished project into a beautiful wall hanging!
Note: Participants are encouraged to bring some scrap fabric and a pillowcase for the project base. However, all essential supplies will be provided, and some extra plain pillowcases will be available if you're unable to bring your own.
Join us for a fun and impactful afternoon of creativity and self-expression!
