The Handmade Home
20 Simple Sewing Projects for Your Home
The Handmade Home by Arounna Khounnoraj is a home sewing book built around repurposed and natural materials — old sweaters, scrap fabrics, rags — worked into practical and decorative pieces for every room. Projects include a quilt and pillow from scrap fabrics, a blanket made from old sweaters, a rag rug, and more. All 20 projects are beginner-friendly with step-by-step instructions, and each is designed to be adapted in scale or complexity.
Khounnoraj is a Canadian artist and maker based in Toronto, where she emigrated with her family from Laos at the age of four. Her background includes a Master of Fine Arts, and her current practice is rooted in fibre arts — the book reflects that directly, with an emphasis on working with what you have and making it last.
