Everything Knitters, Crocheters, & Weavers Need to Know About Yarn to Level Up Your Craft.

Yarn is the foundation of everything we make, yet most of us never stop to think deeply about what it actually is, how it’s made, or why it behaves the way it does. A User’s Guide to Yarn by Michelle Boyd changes that.

Whether you’re a knitter, crocheter, or weaver — novice or lifelong maker — this book gives you a thorough, accessible understanding of yarn from fibre to finished fabric. You’ll learn how yarn is constructed, what it’s made of, and how those two factors shape the way it knits, crochets, and weaves up. The kind of knowledge that quietly transforms every project you make.

The book is structured in three parts:

  • Part One — Making Yarn: How yarn is made and what it’s made of
  • Part Two — Buying Yarn: How to choose the right yarn for your project
  • Part Three — Using Yarn: How different crafts interact with yarn

Each section builds on the last, giving you both the ‘why’ behind yarn and practical tools to make better, more confident craft choices.
