Techniques & Projects for Colourwork Knitting

The Colorwork Bible by Jesie Ostermiller is a comprehensive colourwork knitting reference covering more than half a dozen distinct techniques, from beginner to advanced level. Each technique is introduced through small-scale swatch lessons before moving into full-size projects — a structure that lets you build confidence with a method before committing to a larger piece.

Techniques covered:

  • Stripes
  • Stranding and Fair Isle
  • Brioche
  • Slip-stitch
  • Mosaic
  • Intarsia

Colour combination guidance runs throughout, covering how to select and pair colours effectively across different technique types.

About the Author

Jesie Ostermiller is an avid self-taught knitter and designer with a passion for colorwork. Her designs have been featured in various Krause Craft publications and can be found on Ravelry. She was born and raised in Alaska, and it was there that she fell in love with knitting cold-weather necessities such as sweaters, hats, mittens, and scarves.
She now lives in northern Utah with her husband and two boys, which thankfully still affords her plenty of winter weather in which to wear her knitted creations.
